The Tough Tech problem we are solving
Pearl Bio is tackling core limitations in today’s biologic drugs, which are constrained by the 20 natural amino acids and often struggle with toxicity, poor stability, and imprecise delivery to diseased tissues. These constraints make it difficult to design “smart” biologics and biomaterials that can be finely tuned for half‑life, targeted delivery, and multi‑functional activity, slowing progress against complex diseases such as cancer.
About our solution
Pearl Bio is building a synthetic biology platform that couples genome engineering, genomically recoded organisms, and tethered ribosomes to encode diverse synthetic chemistries directly into proteins, creating multi‑functionalized biologics and biomaterials with properties previously inaccessible. By preserving native protein activity while adding tunable features like extended or adjustable half‑life, targeted delivery, and cytotoxic payload attachment, Pearl Bio’s technology aims to enable a new generation of smart biologics and nanobody‑based therapeutics that overcome key barriers in biologic drug development and unlock new therapeutic opportunities.
