The Tough Tech problem we are solving
We cannot exist without plants. Air, water, food, energy, and medicine—plants touch every aspect of our lives. Yet, today, global plant resources are in decline. Nearly 40% of plant species are on the verge of extinction, and the planet has lost almost a third of its forests since the Industrial Revolution, with most of this loss occurring in the past century. To sustain life as we know it, we must start engaging differently with our plant resources.
About our solution
Foray is building tools and processes that enable taking less from nature and regenerating more. They use natural plant cells, grown outside of the plant, as building blocks. Through biomanufacturing, Foray creates harvest-free molecules, materials, and seed products. This versatile approach protects sensitive ecosystems from over-harvesting and addresses bottlenecks in native seed supply, enabling scalable and timely restoration.
