The Tough Tech problem we are solving
Life-threatening bleeding and clotting are among the leading causes of preventable in-hospital death, yet clinicians often lack fast, complete information about a patient's coagulation status. Standard point-of-care devices measure only clotting time and frequently miss the underlying defect, while more comprehensive viscoelastic tests are costly, bulky, complex to operate, and require large blood volumes that make them impractical at the bedside. The challenge is especially acute for fragile patients such as newborns, for whom every drop of blood drawn carries risk.
About our solution
Coalesenz addresses this challenge with next-generation optical diagnostics that deliver real-time insight into how blood clots. Its hand-held, point-of-care analyzer uses light to track how a clot forms and changes from just a few drops of blood, delivering a comprehensive coagulation profile in under 10 minutes. Founded to commercialize a sensor invented in founder Seemantini Nadkarni's research lab, Coalesenz aims to help clinicians make faster, smarter hemostasis decisions, from the operating room to the NICU.
