Amplifying brain-machine communication with soft, implantable electronics.

The Tough Tech problem we are solving

Over 1 in 3 people are affected by neurological conditions, the leading cause of illness and disability worldwide. When drugs are ineffective or when there is simply no drug available, implantable Brain-Computer Interfaces (iBCIs) provide a direct access to read and modulate neural signals, enabling personalized treatments for the toughest diseases such as motor neuron disorders, sensory impairment, traumatic brain injuries and dementia. However, iBCIs are not scalable due to the trade-off between implant invasiveness and the ability to create a bioelectronic interface with the brain across a wide range of temporal and spatial scale.

About our solution

Axoft is building a scalable iBCI by developing novel soft materials to realize a seamless interface between brain tissues and the implant, allowing to measure and stimulate at high-resolution and in any brain region. The company also leverages modern advances in mixed-signal circuits to create a minimally-invasive, high-bandwidth, bi-directional interface with the brain, and machine learning algorithms to decode neural activity with high reliability over time. Axoft aims to unlock new treatments for patients suffering from neurological disorders by making iBCIs more desirable and answer fundamental unmet needs.
